


Understanding and Responding to the Sexual Behaviors of Adolescents (August 19-21)

This training is part of PCAVT’s Adult Responsibility Project, a set of programs linked to significantly decreased rates of substantiated child sexual abuse, as published in Child Maltreatment (May 2025).
In this 6-hour virtual training, participants will gain the knowledge and skills to facilitate the curriculum Understanding and Responding to the Sexual Behaviors of Adolescents©. The training empowers adults to both promote healthy sexual development in adolescents and to recognize and respond effectively to problematic or harmful behaviors.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will be prepared to:
Train other adults to distinguish between developmentally expected, problematic, and abusive sexual behaviors in adolescents.
Identify risk and protective factors associated with harmful sexual behaviors.
Respond proactively and effectively when harmful behaviors are observed.
Intervene in ways that help prevent the reinforcement or escalation of these behaviors.

The training is conducted live via Zoom and includes interactive discussions, activities, and demonstrations.
This training is ideal for educators, clinicians, case workers, and other professionals who work with or support adolescents.
